Tijdens de masteropleiding ‘Cure’ verbleef Nieke Koek met haar medestudenten korte tijd als artist-in-residence bij het psychiatrische zorgcomplex de Willem Artnsz Hoeve in Den Dolder. Het leverde Koek een wirwar aan gedachten op. Een ratelende naaimachine bootst haar hardwerkende hoofd na, en produceert vele meters warrig lint, waarop complexe gedachten geborduurd staan.

During her ‘Cure’ master’s course, Nieke Koek and her fellow students spent a short time as artist-in-residence at the Willem Artnsz Hoeve psychiatric care centre in Den Dolder (NL). This prompted a confusing tangle of thoughts in Koek. A rattling sewing machine imitates her head, hard at work processing these thoughts, and producing metres and metres of fuzzy ribbon, on which complex notions are embroidered.
